Some rest and relaxtion for Faida before the championships season

Dog in ocean

Meet Faida, a weimaraner, a show champion and a grade 4 agility dog with his silver agility warrant. Faida is a new Cotswold RAW customer and we thought it would be great to keep up to date with his adventures with all his championships and competitions coming up over the next few months. Exciting times!

…This weekend, we packed our bags and headed to North Norfolk for a few days R&R. Faida packed all his favourite things, including a marrow bone for his Saturday night in.

We started our weekend with a walk in Mundford Forest on the Saturday with friends. The weather was just beautiful and we kept cool under the pine trees. This gave Faida the opportunity to stretch his legs after being in the van for a couple of hours. We bid our farewell to our friends and made our way closer to the Norfolk coast where we stayed in the most beautiful cottage. Friday evening was spent exploring the local area, and then a well deserved chill out.

On Sunday we headed to Wells next the Sea. We arrived early to beat the crowds. Our walk along the shoreline took us away from the families and beach huts to the most beautiful sandy beach that stretched for miles. Faida paddled in the sea and did a reckie of the sand dunes. We stopped half way for a drink in the local pub. We racked up an impressive 11 miles on Saturday and by the time we had finished, we both had just enough energy for an ice cream.

Monday was the last day of our trip and we took an early walk through the beautiful pine forest behind Wells beach. It was cool and pretty and still sandy under foot. We stopped off at the Farm shop on the way home for lunch supplies.

Everywhere we went, people would stop and talk about Faida, whether to ask about his breed, his colour or the way his coat shines in the sun. Many people mistook him for a Vizsla, a few knew he was a weimaraner, but most couldn’t pronounce it!

This weekend has given both Faida and I the perfect chance for some R&R, before the summer show season starts. In two weeks time we have our last canicross race of the year, our first agility show of the year, and a couple of weeks after that, we will make the journey to the borders of Scotland for our first champ show for the year. I feel it is so important to allow our busy working dogs some down time, and this weekend was just the ticket for my boy.
