An exciting year ahead!
We’re delighted to announce that James and Willow have been selected to represent Team GB this year for the Kennel Club at both the European Open in Belgium and the World Championships in Austria!
Not only have they been selected to run in the Team events, but also have the privilege of being given individual runs – which only three medium dogs in the whole of the UK have been offered.
Although James and Willow are on cloud nine, the hard work and training plans have already begun. Early morning fitness and skills sessions have been scheduled in, along with regular massages and rest days. Goals have been set, and training sessions booked.
This weekend we attended one of our favourite local agility shows ICONIX, based at the Dallas Burston Polo Club in Southam.
James set his goal of running all six runs, and going clear in each one – meaning no faults or eliminations picked up. If you’ve read previous blogs, this will contradict some of their previous goals of “Run to WIN” every time.
However, now with the upcoming international events, James has decided it’s more important to make sure they train foot perfectly, rather than go for the fastest time, so that abroad – when he “Runs to win”, their chances of going clear and winning are even better. Ultimately sacrificing placings now in local shows, to better their chances in the international events!
Saying that, James and Willow still came away with plenty of rosettes this weekend (seven!) and they even won the overall “Heat 1, of the pro series”. Which although wasn’t the goal, was an incredible achievement.
