In September, James and Willow made the 20-hour hour journey out to Vienna, Austria, to take part in this year’s Agility World Championships.
The World Championships is regarded as the biggest and most prestigious international agility event of the year. Teams travel from all over the world, from Japan to Finland, America to Spain. Each country’s top agility handlers and their dogs travel by plane, road, train and sea to compete.
2022 was James’s and Willow’s second year representing Team GB. They performed so well at the selection days back in February that they were selected to compete in both the Team and Individual classes.
Over the course of the four days of competition, our pair had four runs, two for the team and two for individual – their results are below.
Team
(As a team of 4, the top 3/4 scores are added together.)
Agility – 1st place
Jumping – Eliminated (however Willow had the fastest time out of all competitors)
Individual
Agility – 3rd place
Jumping – Eliminated
Even though there were no overall medals won, they brought home some beautiful rosettes and trophies. James’s and Willow’s performance was incredible and really showcased just how much talent they have as a pair.
Little Willow, with her little legs has done so well this year. We’re so proud of her and hope that next year … if she gets selected again, we can bring that elusive final gold medal home in 2023.
Bring on next year in the Czech Republic!
