The final count down has begun! It’s now only a few days until James and Willow travel to the Netherlands to compete in this year’s Agility European Open as part of Team GB.
The build-up over the last few months has been exciting, but also nerve wracking. James has been working hard to keep Willow at her peak performance weight and fitness level for the past 6 weeks. He’s also kept Willow practically ‘bubble wrapped’ in everyday life, as any injury, however small, could end their 2019 journey before it’s even begun.
Juggling Willow’s agility and conditioning sessions, massages, physio and grooming appointments, plus ensuring that she also has ‘just-being-a-dog’ days is like playing a giant game of life Tetras – fitting our own lives around her schedule. However, and I’m sure most dog owners can relate to this, our dogs come first; they often even eat better than us #CotswoldRAW!
Although Willow is a hardy little dog, and not much fazes her, it’s important to remember that she initially joined our family as a pet, and that actually her main goals in life are to have her belly rubbed, to chase birds and occasionally steal the odd slice of toast from the kitchen. The fact that she is an amazing athlete, with incredible intelligence and an insatiable appetite for agility are just a massive bonus for us! She owes us nothing, yet James and I owe her so much for the journey she is taking us on.
So, this honest little fire-red spaniel is all packed and ready for the European Open 2019 and we’re ready too. Bring it on! Please wish James & Willow and the whole medium team “bring the noise” Luck!!
